Quick Knits

I knit a couple of pairs of Camp Out Fingerless Mitts since the last time I posted.   I knit the darker pair in less than a day.  Those were knit from some handspun.  

The second pair took me a little longer. They would have been done really quick as well but I didn't knit on them all weekend.  I just used some yarn from my stash to knit those.  I think the girls like them.  I am considering making myself a pair but I may tweak it a little to add a little shaping to the arm.

Maine Comes to Kansas

I was in the mood for a "quick knit".  I think these fit the bill pretty well.  I started them on November 21,2010 and finished them the next day.  These were made out of the Sea Dreams Handspun 2.0.  These will be going to live with my sister in law, Denise.

The first pair was such a fun and quick knit I made another.  These are going to live with the babysitter that watched the kids on Saturday last week while I took a Spinning Self Striping Yarns class.  I started these on Sunday and finished on Monday.  

Winding and Rewinding

I am having a mild case of startitis so I wound some yarn today.  I have been cleaning the house getting ready for Thanksgiving so I took a little break.  This yarn is for a pair of Maine Morning Mitts.  It is some handspun I spun up a few weeks ago.

This yarn is so I can keep working on my sweater.  This color is actually a turquoise.  The weather is kind of cold rainy/snowy mix so not so good for taking pictures.

These two yarns I actually rewound.  They were both failed sock attempts from this summer.  I am feeling a strong urge just to knit vanilla socks.  I am hoping that these two failed attempts at other patterns will make it to a couple of completed pairs.

A Red Phase???

I started the Sock Knitters Anonymous May June Mystery Sock yesterday.  This pattern was designed by Cookie A.  I really like her designs even though I have only knit Monkeys so far.  I am using some Happy Feet yarn from my stash.  I have the first sock cuff done.  I am not sure if I will wait and cast on the second sock after the clues are all out or go ahead and knit the second sock up to the end of the first clue.

I have a tendency (if I really like the teacher) to knit something for them before the end of the year.  So far I have knit for all of them up to this point.  I had a hard time thinking of something to knit for Punkin's teacher.  She has very narrow feet and I thought socks might not fit very well unless I could try them on her.  She isn't really a "scarf" or "shawl" kind of person either.  My neighbor who lives across the street from the school thought mitten might be good.  These are the Pop Top Mitts that I knit for her.  They will go live with her tomorrow.

March is for Mitts

I seem to be on a Mitts kick lately.  I knit a pair for the Punkinbug's teacher.  She liked them a lot and I was glad that she did.  I knit these out of Patons Classic in Retro.

 

I have started a pair for Punkin's teacher now.  This pair is out of Malabrigo in Geranio I think. These are so soft I was tempted to keep them for myself but I have now knit past the point of my fingers so to the teacher they shall go.








Knitting has been interrupted a little lately due to a third grade project that I have been helping my Punkin with.  I will try to post pictures of the completed project soon.

Another Project is Done

I guess this week has been for finishing around here. I finished up my Mitt Envy fingerless gloves (Ravelry). I knit these out of my handspun. I really enjoyed knitting these. I am not quite how much use I will get out of them here in Minnesota since the winter is kind of cold enough for full gloves and mittens. They might be more useful in the Spring and Fall when it is not quite as chilly.

I guess I will need to think about starting a new portable project since the only projects I have left on the needles are a sweater and a circular shawl. I guess I will cast on the socks I was pondering the other day.
