I have been slowly making progress on the Transitions Ribbed Boxed T shawl from Trendsetter. It is using the Transitions yarn which is a 52/48 cotton/acrylic blend. The yarn is four strands of yarn that change colors periodically. I am finding it splits very easily since there is no twist to hold it together.
The marker is where I started this evening when I picked it up. I am working on a scarf for my son. I made him a green Link hat at Christmas time last year so he thought he needed a scarf to go with it. He didn't want a pattern and I didn't want to just do a garter stitch scarf so we compromised. Nothing too fancy just a little texture.
My yarn store got Hedgehog Fibres in so I used some store credit I had. I am doing sock similar to the Weasley house sock. At least I think that is the name of the pattern.
I have been participating in the Second Annual Desert Vista Dyeworks sock knit along. I have completed nine pairs this year and will hopefully finish the year. I am kind of losing steam though. I have been working on a baby blanket for my niece who is having a little boy. It is the Colorful Wedges Pattern from Purl Soho. I am using Berroco Modern Cotton in Navy and Sandy Point. Apparently, my new great nephew did not realize that he couldn't be born before the blanket was finished. He decided to arrive yesterday. I need to get this finished before he is too big to use it.

Since today is August 1st, it means it is time to cast on a new pair of socks for the Desert Vista Dyeworks sock knitalong. I am using my plain 68 stitch vanilla sock pattern with the colorway Bad Romeo. If I finish this pair I will have completed 20 months of the knitalong. Not sure I will participate next year or not but I am hoping to finish out this year.Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05427569500357354784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32190685.post-58607391611287026942016-07-31T15:19:00.001-07:002016-07-31T15:19:53.851-07:00Hey That's Not Knitting
I have been watching Legacy Knitz podcast episodes, trying to get caught up and Sue has inspired me to pick up an old cross stitch (Carin from Round the Twist had something to do with it too).

I have made good progress on my personal Sock Throwdown Challenge. I also had a setback.

I finished the June Desert Vista Dyeworks socks. I used the Peter Max colorway and a US 0 set of Addi Flip Stix dpns to knit them. They are just a plain vanilla sock with a heel flap.

I absolutely love knitting with a sock blank, now that I know exactly what works for me. I finished the Gale's Art Lady Sings the Blues socks. These were knit on a pair of Knitter's Pride Karbonz size 0 dpns. I really do not enjoy the Karbonz as much as I did the first time I knit with them. I think I will probably destash them at some point. This sock was a 72 stitch plain vanilla socks with a heel flap, which is my favorite.

I finished the first of the handspun socks. I have not cast on the second one yet. These are knit on a US 1 Chiagoo 40 inch circular. I really need to cast on the other sock but just haven't taken the time to do it yet. It is a plain Vanilla sock with 52 stitches and a heel flap.

My setback. I cast on another pair of socks and this is the reason why the handspun sock has not been cast on. This is a plain vanilla sock with 72 stitches and a heel flap. I am using Hiya Hiya dpns size 0. These by far are my favorite needles. The yarn is Lorna's Laces in the Boardwalk colorway.

I am pretty happy that I finished the two pairs and hope to finish the other two pairs this month. I need to cast on my July Desert Vista Dyeworks socks. I might wait a couple of days before I do that. I have picked out my yarn and plan to use my Hiya Hiya dpns to knit them.

Have a great day!!!Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05427569500357354784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32190685.post-59716050236247466032016-06-22T07:09:00.000-07:002016-06-22T07:09:02.971-07:00The Blanket and the Sock Throwdown

I finished the Epic Brown Baby Blanket that I knit for my niece's little boy. He was born at the end of May and is as cute as all get out. I used the Quadrature for Korrigan Pattern and Berroco Modern Cotton in Richard Williams. I used a size 7 needle and I will probably knit this pattern again. I will admit the border seemed to take forever but I love how it turned out.

Now, I am moving on to Sock Throwdown. I have four pairs of socks on the needles and it is kind of bugging me a little. I really want to get these done so I can cast on more. The top pair is vanilla socks using some handspun yarn. The pair on the left is my June socks for the Desert Vista Dyeworks Second Annual Sock Knitalong. The pair in the middle is Ella Rae Lace Merino using the Zigzagular Pattern. The pair on the right is a vanilla pair using the March sock blank from Gales Art sock blank club. My goal is to have two of these finished by the end of the month.Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05427569500357354784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32190685.post-81860556149602904312016-04-28T17:44:00.001-07:002016-04-28T17:46:33.034-07:00Some Socks
I have been on a sock kick lately. I have finished my April Desert Vista Dyeworks socks and I am trying to knit a pair of Rose City Rollers before the end of the month. My April Socks are Zombody It's Cold Outside and I am using Regia Arne and Carlos for my Rose City Rollers.

So far, I am enjoying it. I go in spurts where I put on four or five squares and then I stop. This spurt I am working on the sixth square. The blanket isn't very big so far. I am working on square number 15. This will be a long term project, just like everyone elses.

I have a completed project. It is actually the second one I have finished in the last week. The other one I still need to take a picture.

Project
Orbit Shawl by Janina Kallio
Yarn Handspun Merino Tencel from Treasure Goddess
Needles Size 8 KnitPicks Nickel Plated Interchangeables
Started February 8, 2016
Finished April 8, 2016

It grew a lot when I blocked it. The knitting was a pure joy and I will probably knit another one at some point.Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05427569500357354784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32190685.post-74461919717236249512016-04-08T15:25:00.002-07:002016-04-08T15:25:48.830-07:00Progress and an Additional Project

Isn't it amazing how easily we get sidetracked. I am making good progress on my goals for the week. I have a finished object, I started the tank that I wanted to just get cast on and I am almost done with the garter section on the bottom before I start the plain knitting in the round. I started the tank yesterday and I am enjoying the knitting so far.

I had a project that I started a while back that I was super excited about. I am not sure what happened that it got put away and I didn't finish. I am making an Orbit shawl out of some of my handspun. The yarn is a Merino Tencel that I spun in a teal color. I am getting close to being done with it. I am planning on giving it away to someone that went above and beyond her job description to help my daughter.

The finished object needs a beauty shot before I reveal it. I hope you all are making progress on any projects that you are working on.

I was going to post on how much trying to use Blogger frustrates me at times. Instead, I have decided to just be positive. I am setting myself a goal for this week. I have five projects here that I would like to make progress on.

Starting with the blue yarn at the top and continuing clockwise.

The blue yarn and magenta yarn behind it is some Baah Aspen. It is destined to be a Reflections shawl. The yarn is AMAZING. I believe it is a merino, cashmere, silk blend that is just luscious. I am barely started but would like to get to the first color change.

The brown blob that all the projects are laying on is a blanket for my great nephew, Silas, that is due at the end of May. I am using the Quadrature for Korrigan pattern. It is a very elegant design that is timeless. It has eight cables on a garter stitch border. I want this thing FINISHED!!! I have a little over five rows to go but they are almost 500 stitch rows so they are taking a little bit of time.

The sock on the left is my April Desert Vista Dyeworks knit a long sock. I have finished the first three pairs for the year. This is my first time using one of the Zombody colorways. This one is Zombody, It's Cold Outside. I would like to be past the heel and working on the foot by the end of the week.

The second sock is my March sock blank from Gale's Art in the Lady Sings the Blues colorway. I would like to have the first sock completed. I am working on the gusset decreases now.

The last ball of yarn next to the sock blank is the beginning of a tank. It is a shop sample for my LYS. I just want to get it cast on and have a little bit of progress. I had started it before but had to rip it out when I somehow got it the bottom of it twisted.

I will try to post progress through out the week of goals reached.
Last year, I will admit that I lost my lost my blogging mojo. Maybe that is why there hasn't been a post in over four months. I had thought a couple of times in the last couple of weeks to do a post. I decided to wait and start fresh today.

The picture is my Spin the Bin challenge for this year. It weighs around 59 ounces. I am hoping to get it done by the end of summer.

I hope everyone has a wonderul beginning to the new year.
Today, I really focused on my first Borscht sock. When I started this morning I was still decreasing the gusset. The first one is finished, I just finished sewing up the toe after I took the picture. Guess I will cast on the second one. I am excited to keep working on it until it is done, four and a half months to go.Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05427569500357354784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32190685.post-89491723172450884822015-08-06T08:13:00.000-07:002015-08-06T08:13:02.925-07:00A New Challenge

It has been forever since my last post. The summer has flown by and lots of knitting was accomplished. I hope to bring you all up to date as the month goes on with progress and finished objects from over the summer.

This is my work in progress challenge that I made for myself. I took the picture a few days ago, and one of these projects is almost done. There are five projects I want to get finished by September 15. There is a Mrs. Watson shawl, this is the one that is almost finished, two pairs of socks, a handspun Samadhi, and a Yarn Optimiser that I have caked the yarn to start.Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05427569500357354784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32190685.post-16330927331057635682015-04-04T06:13:00.001-07:002015-04-04T06:13:16.493-07:00EASY

I think Martina Behm is a genius. I love how she designs patterns for mindless knitting and in the process make something that is easily wearable. I have been knitting mainly socks lately. I really wanted a project that was fun and not a sock. I started this yesterday using some handspun from some BFL that I spun from Gale's Art. I think the colorway is Blueberry Hill. The stitch marker is where I was when I started this morning. I am excited to see how far I get today.
Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05427569500357354784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32190685.post-87699167270925317122015-03-01T13:41:00.001-08:002015-03-01T13:41:33.402-08:00Spin the Bin Progress

I am making progress on my Spin The Bin challenge. The pink and gold yarn was the Treasure Goddess batt. I have finished the singles of the Teals Merino/Tencel blend. I hope to get them plied sometime this week. The other two bobbins are Falkland from Fat Cat Knits in Ruby Truffle. It was part of a mixed blessing club last year. I have one more bobbin of that to finish before I ply.Robinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05427569500357354784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32190685.post-23041221772495371042015-02-28T17:33:00.000-08:002015-02-28T17:33:10.131-08:00World's Worst Blogger

These are socks I started while I waited for the new year so I could start my Colorful Celebration socks. I am doing them toe up as well. The yarn is Ella Rae Lace Merino. I just added a little ribbing to the David's Toe Up Cookbook pattern.
