Designer Crush on Susan Ashcroft

I think I might have a designer crush on Susan Ashcroft of Stitchnerds Designs.

She has managed to suck me in again.  I really tried to resist casting on but I have no willpower.  The pattern Little Waffles has been out for a while but I have just finally found the yarn that would be perfect for it.  I actually cast on in another yarn but decided it just wasn't right. I think this will be perfect and a little bit of a change from the massive amounts of stockinette in the Mondo Cable Pulli.

There are still other designs that I want to knit of hers.  Like this and this and this.  The this's could go on an on.  If you haven't knit one of her designs go cast one on.  They are great for handspun.

A Promise Kept

I told you I had a finished object and some new yarn to share yesterday, so I am keeping my promise to show it off. I finished the Noro Biased Scarf made from handspun Woolgatherings BFL.  It will be gift for my nephew's wife when they come to Kansas to visit for Christmas.

I finished the Woolgatherings October Fiber from the fiber club.  I got around 625 yards of a heavy laceweight to light fingering.  I love it.  The fiber was Polwarth/Silk blend and I don't think I could recommend it enough.  It was an amazing fiber to spin.

Will I Make It???

I have been participating in The Knitgirllls 5K Stashdown this summer.  I am currently at 5012 yards and I need 5460 to finish.

This yarn got me to where I am now.  It is 412 yards of merino that I dyed with food coloring.  It didn't really turn out the way I wanted to I am debating if I want to try to dye it again or just leave it.

I am currently knitting this pair of socks out of UrbanGypz Superwash Merino.  I am halfway done with the leg on the second sock and when I finish them I will have used a little over 300 yards for the pair.

I started a Noro Bias Scarf last week at Knit Night.   I am about a third of the way done with the yarn so I have used about 130 yards of it.

I also have some spinning on my wheel that I might be able to finish as well.  I am thinking I will make it but I am not sure yet.

Spinning Causes Knitting

I spun this mixed BFL from Woolgatherings.

Here is a bobbin of the singles that I spun.

The finished yarn is a fingering weight and about 420 yards.

I started a Noro Bias Lace Scarf with it last knit at KniCroSpin night at my LYS.  I am excited to see how it turns out.

Newest FO!!!!!

This is the newest finished object to come off my needles.  I knit this for the my LYS as a shop sample.  I think it is a fun and amazing scarf.  It didn't look too great on me but I so enjoyed knitting it. It really is hard to hate knitting anything that you get to knit with Malabrigo.

I Promised a FO

I promised a finished project yesterday so here it is.  This is the scarf that I spun from Barley and Daisy's fleece.  It is just a fifteen stitch garter stitch scarf. I plan on giving it to my sister.  The size is 3 inches by about 6 feet.

I was able to get a very cute model to show it off.  He works for yogurt and candy corn.

Wow

It sure has been an eventful couple of weeks around here. I got a year older and it was a big birthday. I got sick. I sent my little buddy off to preschool, which wasn't nearly as traumatic as I expected. The girls have both been sick. Other things have happened but that is a later post I think.

I did finish a project. (I STILL need to weave in the ends though.) It is the One Row Lace Scarf. (Ravelry) I knit it out of handspun and I think it turned out pretty good. I had the Punkinbug do some modeling for me. I think she would keep it for herself if she could.

This is just a little closer picture to see the colors and stitch pattern a little better.

Friday Post

I have been doing some spinning this week. This is the current wool on the bobbin. It is a Bonkers fiber that I got last summer on vacation. I am trying for a three ply fingering weight and it is going pretty well so far. I haven't spun much of it yet so I still have a long way to go. Spinning finer yarns takes a lot more time than worsted weight.

I was trying to find the bottom of my knitting bag and this project was in the way. I have started working on it again. I am hoping to have it finished by the end of May.

My current "new favorite" sock pattern, Mockery. I love this pattern and this yarn. I am using Malabrigo Sock in Velvet Grapes. This yarn is so soft. I am not very fond of the really thin spots but I am enjoying this yarn otherwise.

Have a good one, I think I am going to go knit.

Paint Me HAPPY!!!!!!

Well first off, it is 66 degrees here today with no wind. Woo Hoo.

Second, the trees are budding out so that means that Spring is coming sooner than later.

Third, the Jayhawks won yesterday. It wasn't pretty but a win nonetheless.

Fourth, beautiful, lovely, gorgeous, smooshy handspun scarf.

I think I am in serious love with this scarf. It makes me super happy that I spun, and knit it. I guess the only bad thing is that the weather probably won't give me much of a chance to wear it for a while but after this winter I am okay with that.
