The Scarf that I Never Thought Was Going to End

Do you remember that song?

This is the song that never ends,
It just goes on and on my friend,......



I seriously thought that this scarf was like that song. It was never going to end. I have been knitting this scarf for TWO YEARS. Yes I said two years, it wasn't a figment of your imagination.

I finally finished it this afternoon. So I win. This is my first finished project of the year. It should have been done last weekend but the scarf was sneaky. I had to rip out six repeats this last weekend.

Yippee!!!!!!!! Now I need to decide where it wants to live.

Well after wasting precious Ravelympic time on a scarf that I didn't even have entered, I was able to finish one of my projects.

Now that those are finished I can finish the other one for the sock on the right. I will hopefully get these done before the end of the week. I just realized that when I get the other sock for this pair done, I have three pairs of socks that I haven't even got to wear yet.


Want to know the sad part???? The scarf that I was working on still isn't done. Oh well.

The Monkeys are Done!!!

I am pretty impressed with myself and theses socks. These are some seriously amazing socks. I was able to knit them in a little less than two weeks. That is really quick for me. I casted them on November 29, and finished them December 11. I used KnitPicks Options needles 1.5 and Memories sock yarn in the Fly Fishing colorway. These are for my sister in law. I was very tempted to make them for myself but I thought she would like them. I will make some for myself very soon though.




Since I finished up the Monkeys, I felt the need to cast on another pair of socks. I have decided I am going to try to use the yarns that I have wound into cakes so they get used. I had the Loopy Sock Club second installment wound up so I decided to cast them on. It is Claudia Handpainted Yarn. The Pattern is the Pheasant Run from Wildhorse Farm Designs. I am halfway through the leg on the first sock. I really like the pattern and the yarn but I am not too fond of all the knit through the back loops that are in it. I am determined to knit these sock club yarns with the patterns that came with them because they match so well.


The Branching Out scarf hasn't been touched since I blogged about it last week. I think I jinxed myself. I am making myself a little goal before the end of the year. I am not going to mention it again unless I actually make it. So hopefully I will have something exciting to announce in the new year that I reached this little goal.

Hey Hey it's a Monkey

I am probably the very last person in the knitting world that has not knit this sock. I am obsessed. I couldn't put it down most of the weekend. I had to for a little while because my arm started hurting from knitting on it so much. I really like this pattern and it looks so neat in just about any yarn. I am using the Knit Picks Memories in Fly Fishing. I cast it on Thursday night.



I also dug out a UFO out of the yarn box. It is the Branching Out scarf from Knitty. I didn't realize that I was about 30 percent done with it. I am hoping to finish it this week. We shall see.



As you can tell tell from the first picture, we managed to get out Christmas tree up over the weekend. I am a little irritated because one of the strings of lights are not lighting properly. Hopefully we will figure it out next year. I didn't want to take the time to figure it out this year.

We had snow and ice over the weekend so all plans were cancelled we stayed home for the most part. I am so not ready for winter this year for some reason. I want the pretty 70 degree weather back.

Finished Object, Frogging and Casting On

Well I am so excited that I finished a project that has been hanging out at my house for a VERY long time. I started the Pop Top Mitts (I think last spring or summer), I finished the first one back in October, I think, and I finally cast on the second one last Friday and finished it on Monday. Why did it take me so long to finish this project. It wasn't a difficult knit. I think I just didn't like the idea of having to make those fingers and rejoining the yarn. Why do I make things seem more difficult than they are???? That is something for me to ponder I guess.

The sock from the previous post has drowned in the frog pond. Yes, even after I had turned the heel and almost finished decreasing the gusset, I ripped that sucker out. I just didn't like the way it was turning out. I knew if I finished it the way it was it would probably always be a single sock and that yarn is just too pretty to be an abandoned sock. So I will look for another pattern that does that yarn justice.




Since I was disgusted with said sock, I cast on two new projects this week. I cast on the Branching Out lace scarf from Knitty and I am about done with the fifth repeat. I must remember to always use a lifeline. It sure does make lace knitting more enjoyable. I also cast on a different pair of socks. I had started a pair of Basketweave socks with my Fleece Artist Tiger and I thought that it looked like a bumble bee threw up so I frogged it. I have started on the Thuja pattern from Knitty I just added more stitches to accomodate the smaller weight yarn. They are looking pretty good so far and I am happy with them. I think I will spend some time knitting this weekend and see if I can finish a sock in less than a week.
